The researchers conducted a study to investigate the long-term predictive performance of the TIMI-atrial fibrillation (AF) score in comparison with CHA2DS2-VASc and HAS-BLED in a real-world cohort of anticoagulated AF patients. It was reported that the TIMI-AF score has limited usefulness in predicting net clinical outcomes (NCOs) in vitamin K antagonist-experienced AF patients over a long-term period of follow-up. Moreover, this novel score was not found to be superior to CHA2DS2-VASc and HAS-BLED identifying low-risk AF patients. Discrimination and reclassification did not show improvement of prediction using the TIMI-AF score, and decision curves analysis did not display higher net benefit, the results of this study are published in the American Heart Journal.
